Dev Log 12: Social Media Campaigns
The aim of Dev Blog 12 is to create a social media campaign based on a significant cultural event. The idea is to create a branding that can span across multiple social media platforms.
Global Canvas
I opted for an event centred around international art. Art is a great way to express culture and brings communities together regardless of gender, age, sexuality and ethnicity. It is an excellent form of expression, and each piece has meaning.
The campaign aims to bring students, teachers and communities together. Everyone has the opportunity to display their art, and it will allow people to explore different mediums of art, different styles and cultures. Whilst this is a fun event, it could also be seen as educational.
Logo
The logo’s overall shape is like that of a postal stamp, which is used to represent the internationality of the campaign. I used a paintbrush tool from Procreate to add some colour and created simple brush strokes with pink, purple and orange. The illustrations help represent the art aspect.
Social Media Content
The aim of the campaign is to make it as interactive as possible to help build a community. The posts will mainly consist of prompts the followers can use to create a piece of art. Each week there will be a different prompt, and at the end of the week, three of the follower’s work will be selected to be displayed on the Global Canvas social media platforms. This will act as a digital showroom which fits alongside the idea of having an annual in-person showcase event.
The simple prompts allow the followers to use their imaginations to create different and unique art pieces.
Campaign Event Advertising
The primary platforms for the campaign’s advertisements would be those within the Meta group, which includes Instagram and Facebook. This is an easy method to use as they provide the option to share the same advertisement post across both platforms.
Facebook Advertising
The vast majority of people that use Facebook are of an older age. The campaign includes all age groups, which makes Facebook a great platform to advertise the event as it will reach a broader age group.
The sponsored post is set out as a postcard to follow the theme of the logo, which is a stamp. The postcard acts as an invitation to the campaign event.
Instagram Advertising
The younger generation primarily uses Instagram, this is where advertising on multiple Meta group platforms becomes beneficial. By using Instagram, we can tailor content which appeals to younger age groups.
