Proposal

Summary

Objective Recap

As a recap, this project focuses on integrating Augmented Reality into the real estate sector, primarily for homebuyers. The objective is to create an application that allows users to scan QR codes to access 3D property renderings, construction updates, and detailed property information, potentially offering viewing options. The project aspires to enhance the home-buying experience, catering to a diverse audience of investors, first-time buyers, and homeowners searching for new properties.

Project Content

Here is a concise summary of the content and graphic design aspects I plan to explore for the project.

  • AR App
  • Branding
  • Marketing
  • 3D Modelling
  • Use of AR software

Time Management

I will implement Agile project management practices using Jira and its available tools for my major project. This includes sprint planning, where I prioritise and estimate tasks and define parent tasks necessary to complete child tasks. With Jira’s sprint planning, I can organise tasks into two-week sprints, enabling me to effectively manage the backlog of work. This system also allows for the easy addition of new issues to the backlog and adjustments to the sprint and timeline as needed.

Below is a screenshot of my Gantt chart outlining the estimated timelines for each project section. The chart follows a weekly schedule from Monday to Friday, excluding weekends. I have yet to determine a timeframe for exploring AR software since I’m uncertain about the specific software I’ll be using and the level of complexity involved; therefore, I haven’t included it in the Gantt chart.

Figure 1: Here’s a screenshot of a Gantt chart I’ve created using Jira, which provides an overview of my task division strategy. These tasks are organised into four categories: app development, 3D modelling, marketing, and branding. Additionally, there is a dedicated task for reviewing all tasks comprehensively before submission.

This screenshot provides an example of my current backlog. It offers a clearer view of the task details, and it’s the place where I can mark tasks as completed. The red box highlights this particular feature.

Figure 2: Below is a screenshot of the backlog, seamlessly linked to the Gantt chart, where I can efficiently oversee all my tasks and access task details with clarity. The backlog is the central hub where I’ll track task progress and make necessary adjustments.

Potential Limitations

Managing my time throughout the project might pose a challenge. Currently, I haven’t given sufficient thought to other assignments that will run concurrently with the major project. I’ve approached it as if it were my sole focus.

Concerning the app, I’ll solely focus on prototyping my designs, as creating the actual product is beyond my capabilities due to time constraints and my limited coding skills.

I’ll be able to complete the branding and marketing tasks without significant challenges. These tasks are comparatively less complex, and the software required for creating related materials is simple and widely accessible.

If any tasks within the project are likely to pose challenges, it would be 3D modelling. The software can occasionally be complex and prone to crashes. However, given that the designs are relatively straightforward, I should be able to manage this aspect effectively.
