PSAD: The Moving Image

Substance Stager

The objective is to create a set of six visually appealing renders that showcase my product design. I want to highlight the features and benefits of my product, and I plan to include an animated shot using the turn-table feature in Adobe Substance Stager.

Initial Ideas

Upon analysing the brief, I initiated the creative process by crafting a comprehensive mind map filled with a multitude of diverse ideas to consider and explore in greater detail. Figure 1 displays those ideas.

Figure 1: Presented here is an extensive mind map filled with ideas that will contribute towards the progression of the final turntable animation.

Among the initial ideas I delved into was the concept of a cake box intended for bakeries to showcase and sell their delightful creations. However, after careful consideration, I ultimately discarded this idea as the envisioned design did not perfectly align with the intended purpose of the box.

Figure 2: I have created a basic and rough sketch to illustrate my idea for a cake box design. The intention was to have multiple variations of this design to represent different flavors of cake.

Returning to the mind map of ideas, I decided to explore the concept of mystery toys further. I began brainstorming various design ideas that would strongly appeal to the target audience. This concept proved to be more manageable as the design could directly reveal the potential contents inside the box.

Final Idea

Having explored numerous ideas and conducted preliminary trials, I ultimately decided to proceed with the fascinating concept of Mystery Monsters. Regarding the design, my primary goal is to create a visually engaging and lively experience that will readily capture the attention of our targeted audience, children.

The Monster Vault is specifically designed to serve as a captivating and collectable housing for children’s toys. Each mystery box contains a distinct monster, ensuring a delightful element of surprise for consumers when they purchase and open it. The box’s design features imagery of a vault, perfectly aligned with its name and further enhancing its allure. The exterior design of the box also showcases previews of the potential monsters that lie within.

Design Development

Commencing the design development process, I used Adobe Illustrator to craft four unique monster characters. To aid in their creation, I referred to an image found in the references, which served as a helpful guide throughout the character development stage.

Figure 4: I have included images of four unique monsters that I designed using Adobe Illustrator. These monsters will be incorporated into the final design for the box. Each monster has its own distinct appearance and is adorned with vibrant colors. I deliberately chose bright hues to ensure they catch the attention of the target audience and create an appealing visual impact. I used an image online to help create these designs.

Using the initial design shown in Figure 3 as a basis, I further developed it using Adobe Illustrator. I incorporated the monsters I created and added vibrant colours to enhance the design.

Final Design

After finalising my design plan and creating all the necessary components, I utilised Adobe Substance Stager to assemble them and bring together the final product. Presented below are six renders showcasing the completed and polished version of the product.
