ROOTED IN HULL PRESS RELEASE
Rooted in Hull was established by Adrian Fisher in the year of 2013, it was an idea that stemmed from Mr Fishers visions of an urban farm which kickstarted the business. The primary intention was to create a community of local people to educate them on healthy eating and how to grow their own produce. They also offer help to families that may be less fortunate and cannot afford the prices of fresh produce by providing them with good quality, fresh food. They work closely with their partnering companies to provide affordable services to the families in need. Helping others has been the long-term goal that Mr Fisher has always had, and it is something he is deeply passionate about.
The land which Rooted in Hull is situated on was an old looking, derelict plot that required a lot of care and attention. The land was kindly donated to Mr Fisher, who along with local businesses and other enterprises helped to transform the space into what it is today. Mr Fisher gave back to the community allowing the apprentices within Hull city to design and install shipping containers onto the site. They allow 50 students annually to do work on the site to help develop their skill whilst contributing towards their studies. Said shipping containers are filled with raised beds which Rooted in Hull have named “farm in a box”. This means that if the site had to be relocated, it would be easier to transport their growing produce.
Rooted in Hull has a regular flow of volunteers and customers who enjoy the space and the many advantages that come along with it. It is a great space to meet people and make new friends whilst learning about the different types of produce and how to grow it. It is also a great stress reliver and can contribute towards the improvement on an individual’s mental wellbeing.
There are 6 shipping containers in total with one dedicated to a fully functional kitchen. There is a chef that works part time, he uses the produce grown on the farm to make take away meals, these include freshly made soups and sandwiches. Another container is dedicated to a farm shop/market stalls where they sell their homegrown produce and produce from other local businesses. A shipping container is also dedicated to a gallery of art with personal pieces hung on the walls of the container
